Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent applications this week: 2,144 (Early publications: 793, Ordinary publications: 1,351)
- Patent examination decreased by 37%, standing at 271.
- Patent grants saw an increase of 49% with 3,271 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: increased by 4385% (7 to 314)
- Mumbai: increased by 17% (93 to 109)
- Chennai: increased by 98% (155 to 308)
- Kolkata: increased by 63% (38 to 62).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 3% rise (906 to 939)
- Mumbai: 84% surge (83 to 153)
- Chennai: 29% increase (134 to 173)
- Kolkata: ascended by 258% (24 to 86).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 95
- Mumbai: 69
- Chennai: 95
- Kolkata: 12.
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 52% rise (927 to 1,413)
- Mumbai saw an increase of 50% (408 to 616)
- Chennai observed a growth of 40% (649 to 909)
- Kolkata reported an increase of 60% (208 to 333).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 2,144 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 118
- Mumbai: 33
- Pune: 22
- Bangalore: 60
- Chennai: 74
- Hyderabad: 47
- Kolkata: 18.
2024 Yearly Patent Overview (1st Jan – 2nd Feb, 2024):
- Early publications: 3,613
- Ordinary publications: 5,988
- Total applications published: 9,601
- Total grants: 15,493 (Delhi: 6,719, Mumbai: 2,760, Chennai: 4,510, Kolkata: 1,504)
- Applications examined: 1,947.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 770 designs registered this week, increased from 600 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 4,709.
