Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent applications this week: 1,440 (Early publications: 293, Ordinary publications: 1,147)
- Patent examination decreased by 0.2%, standing at 436.
- Patent grants saw a decrease of 20% with 2,192 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: decreased by 97% (286 to 7)
- Mumbai: decreased by 28% (130 to 93)
- Chennai: declined by 14% (182 to 155)
- Kolkata: dropped by 26% (52 to 38).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 12% rise (807 to 906)
- Mumbai: 41% drop (143 to 83)
- Chennai: 17% increase (114 to 134)
- Kolkata: decreased by 38% (39 to 24).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 157
- Mumbai: 110
- Chennai: 150
- Kolkata: 19.
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 19% drop (1,156 to 927)
- Mumbai saw a decrease of 20% (511 to 408)
- Chennai observed a drop of 20% (818 to 649)
- Kolkata reported a decline of 27% (286 to 208).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 1,440 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 66
- Mumbai: 25
- Pune: 15
- Bangalore: 44
- Chennai: 47
- Hyderabad: 21
- Kolkata: 5.
2024 Yearly Patent Overview (1st Jan – 26th Jan, 2024):
- Early publications: 2,820
- Ordinary publications: 4,637
- Total applications published: 7,457
- Total grants: 12,222 (Delhi: 5,306, Mumbai: 2,144, Chennai: 3,601, Kolkata: 1,171)
- Applications examined: 1,676.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 600 designs registered this week, decreased from 1,089 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 3,939.
