The annual National Intellectual Property Awards event is organised by the Indian Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Through the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, the IPO and CII annually confer the awards on outstanding innovators, organisations, and companies in the fields of Patents, Designs, Trademarks, and Geographical Indications on the occasion of World IP Day.
Samsung’s Patent Record in India
Samsung has maintained a strong emphasis on developing an innovative product line, reflected by the volume of patent filings in recent years. In the year preceding the award, the company received the highest number of granted patents in India. Mr. Jason Dongwon Kwak, Managing Director, Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore, stated:
