Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent applications this week: 1,753 (Early publications: 650, Ordinary publications: 1,103)
- Patent examination increased by 12%, standing at 437.
- Patent grants saw a decrease of 20% with 2,771 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: decreased by 40% (479 to 286)
- Mumbai: increased by 34% (97 to 130)
- Chennai: declined by 67% (555 to 182)
- Kolkata: rose by 1633% (3 to 52).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 0.4% drop (811 to 807)
- Mumbai: 0.7% rise (142 to 143)
- Chennai: 70% decline (380 to 114)
- Kolkata: increased by 8% (36 to 39).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 157
- Mumbai: 86
- Chennai: 162
- Kolkata: 32.
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 26% drop (1,571 to 1,156)
- Mumbai saw a decrease of 10% (571 to 511)
- Chennai observed a drop of 19% (1,019 to 818)
- Kolkata reported a decline of 8% (312 to 286).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 1,753 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 28
- Mumbai: 35
- Pune: 28
- Bangalore: 37
- Chennai: 57
- Hyderabad: 44
- Kolkata: 8.
2024 Yearly Patent Overview (1st Jan – 19th Jan, 2024):
- Early publications: 2,527
- Ordinary publications: 3,490
- Total applications published: 6,017
- Total grants: 10,030 (Delhi: 4,379, Mumbai: 1,736, Chennai: 2,952, Kolkata: 963)
- Applications examined: 1,240.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 1,089 designs registered this week, decreased from 1,138 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 3,339
