Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent applications this week: 2,236 (Early publications: 1,019, Ordinary publications: 1,217)
- Patent examination increased by 62%, standing at 440.
- Patent grants saw a decrease of 25% with 2,443 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: decreased by 19% (314 to 252)
- Mumbai: decreased by 21% (109 to 86)
- Chennai: increased by 105% (308 to 633)
- Kolkata: decreased by 22% (62 to 48).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 17% drop (939 to 775)
- Mumbai: 3% decline (153 to 147)
- Chennai: 32% rise (173 to 229)
- Kolkata: descended by 23% (86 to 66).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 161
- Mumbai: 108
- Chennai: 149
- Kolkata: 22.
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 33% drop (1,413 to 935)
- Mumbai saw a decrease of 18% (616 to 501)
- Chennai observed a decline of 14% (909 to 779)
- Kolkata reported a drop of 31% (333 to 228).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 2,236 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 59
- Mumbai: 51
- Pune: 19
- Bangalore: 108
- Chennai: 155
- Hyderabad: 91
- Kolkata: 9.

- Early publications: 4,632
- Ordinary publications: 7,205
- Total applications published: 11,837
- Total grants: 17,936 (Delhi: 7,654, Mumbai: 3,261, Chennai: 5,289, Kolkata: 1,732)
- Applications examined: 2,387.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 749 designs registered this week, decreased from 770 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 5,458.
