Indian Patent Office slows down this week

The Patent and Design Statistics illustrated below have been compiled from the Official Journal of the Patents and Designs Office published by the patent office on Fridays, every week. These statistics are presented to you by the Patent attorneys and experts of BananaIP Counsels, India’s leading Intellectual Property Firm.

Indian Patent Statistics

A total of 1146 patent applications have been published in the 41st issue of the Patent Journal, 2019. Out of the 1146 applications published in the journal, 102 applications account for early publications while 1044 applications account for ordinary publications or publications occurring after the 18 – month period. A total of 286 applications have been granted last week as compared to 850 grants in the week preceding the last thereby marking a decrease of about 66.35%.

Of the total 1146 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata have contributed a total of 84 applications. The total applications from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 8 applications from Delhi, 45 applications from Mumbai, 5 applications from Bangalore, 11 applications from Chennai, 12 applications from Hyderabad and 3 applications from Kolkata.
