The total number of PCT applications filed by Indian applicants was 816, lower than the 1,042 applications filed in the previous year.

Assessment

While the total number of applications fell marginally compared to the previous year, the overall statistics indicate progress in several respects. The increase in applications by Indian residents and the significant growth in examination and disposal rates suggest that the patent system in India continued to develop during the period under review.
