Weekly Patent and Industrial Design Statistics – 6th May 2022 to 13th May 2022

This week’s Patent and Design data has been compiled from the Official journal of patents and designs, published by the patent office on the 13th of May 2022. These statistics are presented to you by the Patent attorneys and experts of BananaIP Counsels, India’s leading Intellectual Property Firm.


A total of 1,215 patent applications have been published in the 19th issue of the Patent Journal, 2022. Out of the 1,215 applications published in the journal,538 applications account for early publications while 677 applications account for ordinary publications or publications occurring after the 18 – month period. A total of 512 applications have been granted last week as compared to 522 grants in the week preceding the last thereby marking a decrease of about 1.92 %

Of the total 1,244 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata have contributed a total of 244 applications. The total applications from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 15 applications from Delhi, 36 applications from Mumbai, 27 applications from Pune, 41 applications from Bangalore, 57 applications from Chennai, 60 applications from Hyderabad and 8 applications for Kolkata.
