Two heads are better than one. Although the phrase can be subjected to debate, there can be no debate when I say that the blogs that form a part of this two part post are among the best in the world. This two part post covers two different blogs arising from the same source. The first blog that we are talking of in this first post is called “Kluwer Patent Blog”
Kluwer Patent Blog is a publication of Kluwer Law International providing information and news on European patent law. The blog was founded in July 2010. The first post, jointly prepared by Peter Burgers of Brinkhof in Amsterdam and Brian Cordery of Bristows in London stated the blog’s somewhat lofty ambitions as being “to provide readers with an up to date picture on important developments in the field of patents throughout Europe and to provide a platform for high level discussion on the most significant topics”.
Five years on, the blog has certainly expanded and done its best to fulfil its ambition. The weblog has 15 contributors from several major European states as well as contributions from other major patent jurisdictions including the US and China. Brian Cordery, Managing Editor, Partner and Joint Head of Patent Litigation for Bristows LLP says that “The blog has proved to be as popular as we hoped, with an average of 11,000 visits per month.”
Brian notes that there is scope for improvement for the blog. However, due to the fact that most contributors to the blog are leading patent practitioners in their country, they are often busy and cannot always report on a new development on the day it happens. The team therefore tries to make up for any slight delay by offering a little more analysis rather than straight factual reports.
The global rank of the blog according to alexa is 3,021,306. The blog has a google pagerank of 5 indicating that the blog is quite popular. Meanwhile, although the blog is a publication of Kluwer Law International, the blog has a unique identity to it and is often seen as a hot favourite among IP and Patent professionals.
Kluwer Patent Blog has a done a fantastic job by reporting and analyzing patent news and information coming from Europe.
