Massive increase in early publication of patent applications

This week’s Patent & Design data has been compiled from the Official Journal of the Patents and Designs Office published by the patent office on the 29thof November 2019. These statistics are presented to you by the Patent attorneys and experts of BananaIP Counsels, India’s leading Intellectual Property Firm.

INDIAN PATENT STATISTICS

A total of 846 patent applications have been published in the 48th issue of the Patent Journal, 2019. Out of the 846 applications published in the journal, 240 applications account for early publications while 606 applications account for ordinary publications or publications occurring after the 18 – month period. A total of 686 applications have been granted last week as compared to 416 grants in the week preceding the last thereby marking an increase of about 64.90%.

Of the total 846 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata have contributed a total of 187 applications. The total applications from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 49 applications from Delhi, 36 applications from Mumbai, 32 applications from Bangalore, 47 applications from Chennai, 19 applications from Hyderabad and 4 applications from Kolkata.
