IPO sees increase in patent activity

The Patent and Design Statistics illustrated below have been compiled from the Official Journal of the Patents and Designs Office published by the patent office on Fridays, every week. These statistics are presented to you by the Patent attorneys and experts of BananaIP Counsels, India’s leading Intellectual Property Firm.

Indian Patent Statistics

A total of 1139 patent applications have been published in the 39th issue of the Patent Journal, 2019. Out of the 1139 applications published in the journal, 183 applications account for early publications while 956 applications account for ordinary publications or publications occurring after the 18 – month period. A total of 588 applications have been granted last week as compared to 580 grants in the week preceding the last thereby marking an increase of about 1%.

A total of 1442 FER’s have been issued last week. Applicants and their agents can check if any of their patent applications have been examined by referring to the journal available here.

Of the total 1139 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata have contributed a total of 164 applications. The total applications from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 35 applications from Bangalore, 16 applications from Hyderabad, 38 applications from Delhi, 31 applications from Chennai, 32 applications from Mumbai and 12 applications from Kolkata.
