NUALS calls for papers on IP

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) has invited papers in respect of its journal – Intellectual Property Law Review. The journal essentially operates under the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), managed by NUALS.The University has invited scholars, academicians, post-graduate students, IP professionals and other persons interested in the same to submit their entries before 15th December 2019. Participants can write a 5000-7000 words Article, 3000-5000 words Essay or submit Notes, Comments and Reviews containing 1000-3000 words. For more information on particulars, click here.

The State Council of Science, Technology & Environment, Meghalaya, organizes training program on Intellectual Property Rights

The State Council of Science, Technology &Environment, established in Meghalaya, is organizing a two-day training workshop on Intellectual Property Rights. The program will be held at the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), North Eastern Region, North-Eastern Hill University on the 14 and 15 of October. The aim of the training program is to disseminate knowledge in respect on protecting IP and enforcing the rights. A number of participants from the Science and Technology Council of the Northern states as well as IP professionals from the field of academia are expected to mark their presence. The training will be delivered by representatives from Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC).

Huawei sued for patent infringement by SolarEdge, yet another time

SolarEdge, a company focused on providing innovation solar power harvesting and monitoring solutions, has filed another suit against Huawei Technologies for infringement of its patent. The current lawsuit, filed in Germany, follows after the company had previously instituted three similar cases against Huawei in the months of June and July, 2018. While exact particulars of the suit are not known, SolarEdge has sued the Chinese tech company seeking damages and an injunction. CEO and acting VP of global sales of SolarEdge, ZviLando, stated that, “SolarEdge spends considerable time and resources on developing innovative technology and this investment needs to be protected. The significant financial investment and years of dedication and hard work from our R&D engineers needs to be protected from exploitation. We will continue to take legal action against Huawei and others to protect our assets.”

SharkNinja files patent infringement lawsuit against Tristar Products

SharkNinja Operating LLC, formerly known as Euro-Pro Operating LLC, a leading innovator in field of houseware products filed a suit for patent infringement against Tristar Products Inc. on 7th October 2019.The suit has been instituted against the company in the United States District Court for Southern District of Florida. SharkNinja has reportedly alleged that Tristar’s – ‘Emeril Lagasse Pressure AirFryer’ has infringed three of its patents namely – U.S. Patent No. 10,390,656; U.S. Patent No. 10,413,121 and U.S. Patent No. 10,413,122. The leading innovator is seeking damages along with an injunction.

Blackbird Technologies settles design patent infringement lawsuit

In June 2019, Blackbird Technologies instituted a design patent infringement lawsuit against Morphe LLC, in USA. The suit was instituted in the U.S District Court for the District of Delaware after Morphe allegedly infringed Blackbird’s U.S. Patent No. D666,358 titled ‘Face Sponge.’ On 11th October 2019, the parties to the dispute reported that the issue between the companies had been resolved. The terms of the settlement, however, remain undisclosed.
