The first practical fountain pen design was patented in 1884 by Lewis\u00a0Waterman. The Treaty of Versailles was in fact signed using a solid gold Waterman pen.<\/p>\n

Indian Patent Statistics<\/h2>\n

A total of 1059 patent applications have been published in the 25th<\/sup> issue of the patent journal. Out of the 1059 applications, 127 applications account for early publications while 932 applications account for ordinary publications or publications occurring after the 18 month period. A total of 261 applications have been granted this week thus marking an increase of about 59.15% in comparison to the number of applications granted in the previous week.<\/p>\n
